The Hanover Lions Twin State All-Star Lacrosse Games will be played this year on Sat., June 23, 2012, at Hanover HS, in Hanover, NH.
This year’s event for the boys will be the 20th consecutive all-star contest, and the girls will play in their 17th consecutive game. All participants are graduated/graduating seniors chosen by their respective coaches’ associations as outstanding players from their respective states of Vermont and New Hampshire. Players from schools that do not play within the guidelines set by each state’s interscholastic athletic body are not eligible. In the past, the contests between traditional rivals Vermont and New Hampshire have produced some great competition and exciting moments.
The Games are sponsored by the Hanover (NH) Lions Club, and all net proceeds will go toward funding charities and programs the Lions support. Several private, individual donors have graciously contributed significant donations of money or time, and several businesses have generously purchased advertising in the program to help reduce the cost of the Tournament to the players, and the Hanover Lions wish to publicly thank those sponsors and advertisers. Also, the Lions would like to thank the coaches’ associations and all the volunteer helpers for their efforts in making the event possible.
This year’s event will be held on Saturday, June 23, at Hanover (NH) High School. The Girls’ game will begin at 12:30 PM and the Boys’ game will begin at 3 PM.
The lacrosse games are held in memory of Vin Fucile, lacrosse mentor and owner of Forth N Goal Sports, of Middlebury, VT, who organized and promoted the first All-Star Game twenty years ago, and then in following years until his unexpected death in 1997.
2011’s games were high-scoring affairs, both ending with victories for the NH boys and girls teams, with the NH Boys over the VT Boys 13-10 and the NH Girls over the VT Girls 18-11.
